The Timberlin Women’s Club of Berlin, CT was started in 1974 and included an 18-hole group and a 9-hole group. In 1991 the 9-hole group separated and formed the Timberlin Lady Niners. 3 Charter Members from 1974 are still Honorary Members of the Lady Niners.
The Lady Niners play Thursday mornings May through September and the club is open to ladies of various skill levels who are 18 years or older. The goal of the group is to have a good time playing golf in a friendly, social environment.
Our weekly sweeps chairperson plans and posts the pairings for 3 flights of different skill levels of competition and someone from each flight wins every week. Prizes are awarded for low net, low putts, and chip ins.
The group has a variety of fun formats as well as some competitive tournaments which include: Opening Day Tournament, ABC Tournament, Club Championship and a Scramble on the day of our annual picnic. We conclude the season with a banquet and awards ceremony in early October.
This year, 2020, we are proud to announce a new program, Celebrating Girls’ Golf. We anticipate that by choosing to play golf, girls will be anchored in developing discipline, achieving self-esteem, and enjoying camaraderie. We hope that golf will build integrity and honesty as they abide by the rules and regulations of the game. We wish to celebrate girls who aspire to such qualities and offer our financial support to members of the Berlin High School Girls’ Golf Team.
If you are interested in joining the Timberlin Lady Niners, please contact Membership Chairperson Shiela Klapatch at firstname.lastname@example.org.
